Brief History Of Cricket In India

Cricket is the one of the oldest sport that is still being played in India. Cricket is the one of the most famous and most played sport in India. It is played passionately and enjoyed by many people in India. It is recorded as having been played since many years. Cricket is also termed as the “unofficial National Sport” of India.

The oldest reference of the date regarding cricket can be taken the year of 1721, the group of sailors and merchant ship played a friendly match of cricket on a seaport in Kutch. But the history of the cricket began to start in the year of 1792 with the launch of cricket club.

Brief History Of Cricket In India

The formation of cricket club:

In 1792, the formation of cricket club brought about a revolution in the history and development of cricket in India. The cricket club at Calcutta formed at the place of India where now Eden garden stands. And later in the year of 1799, yet another cricket club was also formed in India. Later after 5 years, Bombay hosted the match of cricket for the first time in history. And Bombay was the first city of India was the origin of the Indian Cricket started.

In the year of 1932, June, India became a participant of elite club with the participant countries, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and West Indies. The first match of India in Lords against England attracted a large number of people from the worldwide to see the interesting match.

 

Revolution in 1945-2000:

After the independence of India from the British raj, the major and most important revolution brought out in the history of Indian cricket. Ranji Trophy was another step ahead in the field of cricket. It began in the year of 1934 to 1935 and it still continues today. India recorded its first victory in the test cricket in the year of 1952 in which India beat England in the innings played in Madras.

In the late 20th century, India began to follow series of success even in the overseas cricket. The main component in the history of cricket in the 20th century was Bishen Bedi and Prasanna and the period of there is called the golden era of the Indian History.

In the year of 1983, under the captaincy of Kapil Dev, the Indian Cricket Team managed to take hold of the first World cup in the history of the Indian cricket. The ideal team of players such as Madan Lal and Amarnath made their presence important in the whole era.

In the new millennium, the Indian Cricket team continues to show its brilliant and outstanding performance. Nobody can forget the contributions from the star players like Sachin,Saurav,Dravid and Laxman to the team. Though they have just retired from the national team but still their records and glory always inspire the youngsters. The young players in the team like Dhoni, Raina, Virat Kohli, and many others continued to add stars to the glory of their nation and great Indian cricket history. Under the successful leadership of M S Dhoni, the Indian Cricket team also takes the privilege to won the first twenty-twenty Cricket World cup and second world cup after the 1983 cup.

Hence, no matter in what field the Indians started to work, they always make their name in that field.
