The Intel Atom quad core CPU with Bay Trail architecture runs Windows 8.1 very fast; with Bing. The 2 GB RAM is powerful enough for a computer of its class. 32 GB storage unit is offered as a standard, and a 3000 mAh battery as well. Price – $118.

MSI Cubi computers are barebones – the CPU, RAM, storage everything needs to be added later. Suitable CPUs are Celeron 3250, Pentium 3805, Core i3 5005 and Core i5 5200 with memory option flexibility from 2 GB to 16 GB. There’s space for an optional 2.5” HDD as well. Price – $168 onwards.
Meerkat is a barebone computer as well, but larger than the MSI Cubi. The website offers necessary options to choose the configuration by its user. Available CPUs are Intel Core i3 5010U and Intel Core i5-5250U. Supported amount of RAM is 2 GB to 16 GB, and it supports SSD up to 500 GB. Price – $499.

NUC stands for Next Unit of Computing – an initiative by Intel. The CPU on this mini PC is Intel Core i5-5250U. There are open slots for RAM which offers flexibility, and user can plug in up to 16 GB of RAM sticks into it. There are slots for SATA and SSD drives as well. Price – $369.
Mini doesn’t mean less powered, not these computers at least. And they are available for compelling price points, and in all possible configurations.
