- Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park
Situated in Tirupathi, Andhra Pradesh, India, the Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park is the largest zoo in India and the second largest in Asia. It was established in the year 1987. It covers an area of 5532 acres and houses elephants, peafowl, deer, sambar, parakeet, leopard, wild boar, white tiger, panther and giraffe as its major exhibits.
- Arignar Anna Zoological Garden
Also, called Vandalur Zoo, is the largest Zoological garden in India. It is located in Vandalur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu about 31 kilometers (19 mi) from the city centre and 15 kilometers (9.3 mi) from Chennai Airport on GST Road. Spread across 1,490 acres of land, it houses a huge variety of flora and fauna. It houses around 1,500 wild species.
- Nandankanan National Park
Nandankanan Zoological Park is located in Bhubaneswar, India and is the second largest in the country. Spread across 990acres of land, it is a zoological park and a botanical garden. It serves as a home to 1580 animals and 20 species. The major exhibits are the white tiger safari, lion safari, Butterfly Park and orchid house.
- Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh
Indira Gandhi Zoological Park is the third largest in India and is located in the kalambalakonda Reserve Forest in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. it was established in the year 1977. It covers an area of 625 acres of land and houses 850 animals and 75 species.
- Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Garden
Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, also called the Mysore zoo, is located near the Mysore palace, India. It is spread across 157 acres of land and houses around 1320 animals. Established in the year 1892, it is one of the most oldest and popular zoo in India.
- The Nehru Zoological Park
The Nehru Zoological Park is also called Hyderabad Zoo and is located in Hyderabad, India. It is established in the year 1963 and covers an area of 380 acres of land. It houses 110 animals and 100 species. It is one of the most favorite attractions for animal lovers.
- Delhi National Zoological Park
National Zoological Park, also called Delhi Zoo, is located near the old fort in Delhi. It was established in the year 1959 and is spread across a land of 176 acres. It houses around 1350 animals and constitutes 130 species of animals and birds. Chimpanzees, hippos, African wild buffalo, Gir lion, zebras, jaguars etc are some of the exhibits here.
- Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park
Rajiv Gandhi National Park is located in Pune, Maharashtra, India. It was established in the year 1999 and covers an area of 130 acres. The zoo has three divisions- animal orphanage, Snake Park and a zoo. It also consists of the Katraj Lake in about 42 acre. It is a home for about 362 animals.
- Thiruvananthapuram Zoo
Thiruvananthapuram Zoo, also called the Trivandrum Zoo, is located in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. It was built in the year 1857 by the maharaja of Trivandrum and is one of the oldest Zoos in India. Spread across 55 acres of land, the zoo houses around 82 species from around the world. Animals such as the lion-tailed macaque, Nilgiri langur, Asiatic lion, hippos, zebras and many birds and reptiles are all in the Zoo. The zoo also has a snake farm.
- Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park
Sanjay Gandhi Botanical and Zoological garden or the Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyan is located in Patna, Bihar, India. It was established in the year 1973 and covers an area of 152.95 acres of land. It houses around 800 animals. It includes various trees, animals, snakes and fish.
